Preparations for April meeting of presidents of Belarus, China discussed

MINSK – Belarus and China have discussed preparations for a bilateral meeting of Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko and China President Xi Jinping, which is supposed to take place in April 2019, representatives of the Belarusian embassy in Beijing told BelTA.
The matters were reviewed as Deputy Head of the Belarus President Administration, chairman of the Belarusian part of the Belarus-China intergovernmental committee on cooperation Nikolai Snopkov visited China. The official met with the co-chairman of this committee, member of the Politburo of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, member of the Secretariat of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, Secretary of the Political and Legal Commission of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China Guo Shengkun. Ambassador of Belarus to China Kirill Rudy also took part in the meeting.
The meeting touched upon preparations for Alexander Lukashenko's participation in the second Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation, which is due in Beijing in April, as well as the organization of negotiations between Alexander Lukashenko and Xi Jinping. The implementation of agreements reached during the third session of the Belarus-China intergovernmental committee on cooperation in November 2018 was also discussed.
Apart from that, Nikolai Snopkov and Kirill Rudy met with Chinese Commerce Minister Zhong Shan. The meeting touched upon ways to increase the volume and expand the choice of Belarusian export to China, a new stage in development and support for the China-Belarus industrial park Great Stone, preparations for an international forum due in the park in July. Other avenues of Belarus-China trade and economic cooperation were also discussed. Both sides noted that in 2018 Belarus-China trade reached a historic high.
