Belarus, China to set up second joint design institute

MINSK – Belarus and China have agreed to set up a second joint design institute. The matter was considered at a meeting to discuss the construction of facilities at the China-Belarus industrial park Great Stone. The meeting was hosted by Belarus' Vice Premier Anatoly Kalinin, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian government.

The Belarusian-Chinese design institute SITIC-Belpromproyekt was set up to speed up design works and the construction of the park's facilities and improve their quality. A legal normative act has been worked out to set up the second joint design institute at the Institute Belgosproyekt together with China's Beijing JianYi Investment and Development (Group) Co., Ltd.

It was noted at the meeting that the construction of infrastructure has been completed this year. The first eight facilities of the industrial park have been commissioned. These are an energy center, a business center with a hotel, an administrative building, three logistics warehouses, a container terminal, and a manufacturing building. There are plans to commission an exhibition center. The investment totaled Br142 million in 2017.

The construction of five more facilities is in full swing. These are a sci-tech and manufacturing center for super condensers, a center to process and store big volumes of data, the production of optomechanical components, electronic components and laser equipment, Zoomlion production, and a manufacturing facility.

Anatoly Kalinin praised a high level of cooperation and considerable efforts put in by Chinese and Belarusian specialists in 2017.

The work on creating favorable conditions for the development of the industrial park at the governmental level will be continued, the press service said.
