01 October 2014

MINSK (BelTA) – Work is in progress in Belarus to enable the delivery of potash fertilizers to China by rail. The information was released by Yevgeny Rogachev, First Deputy Transport and Communications Minister of Belarus, during the online conference hosted by the BelTA website on 1 October.

“We are working hard on the delivery of potash fertilizers to China by land using the capacity of Belarusian Railways,” he said.

China is one of the largest markets that buy Belarusian potash fertilizers in addition to Brazil. Potash fertilizers are delivered to China by sea via the Klaipeda port.

OAO Belaruskali is one of the world's largest manufacturers and exporters of potash fertilizers. According to the International Fertilizer Industry Association, Belaruskali accounts for 14% of the world's potash fertilizers production. The company comprises four mine groups as well as auxiliary divisions. The state owns 100% of the shares in OAO Belaruskali. Belaruskali exports products to over 70 countries. In H1 2014 China accounted for about 20% of the company's customers.
