05 September 2013

MINSK (BelTA) – Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko has suggested that China create a powerful media holding in Belarus. The Belarusian President made this statement as he met with Member of the Standing Committee of the Politburo of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC), member of the Secretariat of the CPC Central Committee Liu Yunshan on 5 September, BelTA has learnt.

“We would like China to establish a powerful media holding here, in the center of Europe. This media holding could broadcast in Europe and the former USSR republics. It does not matter if this media holding will be a joint venture or a Chinese company. However, it is extremely important that it will promote our cooperation and provide greater coverage of our plans, Belarus, our joint projects and initiatives,” the Belarusian President said.

Alexander Lukashenko noted that he is ready to discuss all kinds of matters with Liu Yunshan: “This is a very important visit and it will help deepen our cooperation. Your visit is a testimony to the fact that the People’s Republic of China attaches great importance to the development of strategic relations with Belarus”.

The head of state emphasized that during his visit to China in July 2013, Belarus and China started drafting a roadmap of the bilateral cooperation. The President expressed hope that this roadmap will be signed during the visit of the Belarusian Premier to China.
