Brest Oblast, Hubei Province of China sign cooperation plan for 2014-2020

MINSK (BelTA) – Brest Oblast of Belarus and Hubei Province of China are developing twin relations and have signed a cooperation agreement for 2014-2020, BelTA has learnt from the Belarusian Embassy in the People’s Republic of China.

The document was inked during the visit of a delegation from Brest Oblast led by Governor Konstantin Sumar to Hubei Province of China. The delegation included officials from Brest and Baranovichi and heads of a number of large enterprises of the region such as Savushkin Product, Brest Distillery Belalko, and Yavid.

Konstantin Sumar met with Hubei Province Governor Wang Guosheng. The parties discussed the state and development prospects of the bilateral relations in various areas. The Belarusian delegation also visited Dongxihu special economic zone (the city of Wuhan) and toured the enterprises of the zone.

Besides, the Belarusian delegation visited the city of Chibi that is in twin relations with Baranovichi. The members of the delegation met with First Vice Mayor of Chibi Wu Huajin and visited the enterprises involved in food processing and production of alcoholic beverages.

The Brest Oblast delegation also visited the city of Xiaogan that is in twin relations with Brest and held a meeting with Secretary of the Party Committee Tao Hong and Mayor Teng Gang. The sides signed an agreement on further development of cooperation between Brest and Xiaogan. Besides, the Belarusian delegation visited Xiaogan special economic zone and got acquainted with the work of the joint Belarusian-Chinese Sanjiang-Volat enterprise.
