MINSK (BelTA) - Belarus and China lack direct air service, Chairman of the National Assembly of Belarus Anatoly Rubinov said as he met with Chinese Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Belarus Gong Jianwei to mark the end of his diplomatic mission in the country, BelTA learned.

Anatoly Rubinov noted that Belarus views China as a good friend and reliable partner, with which it has excellent relations. “We believe that China is a country of the future, which has been developing very rapidly and is on the rise. Your policy is based on the principles which are somewhat different from the principles of the modern Western world, and these principles, as we believe, are very promising. We are proud that we have China among our friends,” he said.

According to the Chairman of the Upper House of Parliament, the cooperation between the two countries has been developing successfully in all areas. In addition to business, trade and economic cooperation, the two countries have been fostering regional contacts. Belarus and China also cooperate on education, culture and media. "We need to establish direct air service which will considerably simplify the cooperation. Moreover, the number of our passengers who fly to China from other countries is significant,” said Anatoly Rubinov.

Mutual cooperation of Belarus and China has further strengthened thanks to the common views in the international arena. "We are very grateful to China for the support at all levels. The support from Chinese diplomats is very helpful for us. On our part, we try to build our position so as to make it consistent with our common interests,” said Anatoly Rubinov.

He also recalled that in July 2013, the Belarusian-Chinese relations were raised to the level of comprehensive strategic partnership, which was formalized in the joint declaration signed by the leaders of the two countries. The parties have begun to develop a roadmap for bilateral cooperation in the future. Anatoly Rubinov expressed confidence that all our plans will be implemented.

Anatoly Rubinov thanked Gong Jianwei for the work in Belarus and expressed hope that his activities for the benefit of the two countries will continue.

Diplomatic relations between Belarus and China were established in 1992. The two countries regularly exchange visits at the highest levels, carry out active inter-parliamentary dialogue, and develop interdepartmental Belarusian-Chinese contacts. Belarus and China have successfully cooperated in international organizations by providing mutual support on fundamental issues.
