MINSK (BelTA) – The National Art Museum of the Republic of Belarus and the European Art Museum of Tianjin (the People's Republic of China) signed an agreement on cooperation in Minsk on 29 April, BelTA has learnt.

General Director of the National Art Museum Vladimir Prokoptsov, who put his signature on the document on Belarus’ behalf, stressed that the main objective of the agreement is to expand cooperation with foreign counterparts. “The National Art Museum enjoys good partnership with the central museums of the People’s Republic of China. The agreement with the European Art Museum of Tianjin has taken our cooperation to the regional level,” the Director General said.

The agreement allows the Belarusian and Chinese parties mull over joint projects. According to Vladimir Prokoptsov, the Chinese counterparts have already suggested hosting an expo of the works of Belarusian classic and young painters. The National Art Museum of Belarus will organize an exhibition of contemporary Chinese painters. “The first exposition will open in the museum next year already,” the Director General said, adding that the exposition will mark the 75th anniversary of the museum.

The visit of the Chinese delegation to Belarus is taking place from 27 April to 6 May. The program of the visit includes tours of numerous Belarusian landmarks and cultural facilities.
