MINSK (BelTA) – China would like to set up assembly factories producing Belarusian machinery, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the People’s Republic of China to Belarus Gong Jianwei told reporters on 28 September, BelTA has learnt.
“The joint assembly production of Gomselmash harvesters is a good example of the bilateral cooperation,” the ambassador said. “Those are very good harvesters; the assembly factory operates on the territory of China; we would like to keep expanding the assembly production of these machines and supply them to other countries,” the diplomat said.
China also assembles BelAZ dump trucks. The ambassador called this project very successful. Belarusian dump trucks assembled in China are already exported to Mongolia. This year Urumqi, the capital of Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region, hosted the international fair China-Asia-Europe where jointly produced Gomselmash machines were presented.
According to the ambassador, the both countries are interested in such projects.
The diplomat believes that the two countries need to start operating direct flights between Minsk and Beijing. At present, one can get to Beijing from Minsk via Moscow, there are no direct flights. “We are working on establishing direct flights between Minsk and Beijing. There are some issues, but I think we will be able to deal with them,” the ambassador said. “I have set this task for myself – to establish direct flights, because, indeed, travels between the two countries take too much time,” he said. Direct flights will help step up cooperation between Belarus and China.
