Gong Jianwei: spiritual closeness between two peoples is the basis of Belarusian-Chinese friendship

Minsk (BelTA) - Spiritual closeness between two peoples is the basis of Belarusian-Chinese friendship. The statement was made by Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the People’s Republic of China to Belarus Gong Jianwei at the solemn meeting held at the Minsk House of Friendship on 24 September to mark the 63rd anniversary of the foundation of the People’s Republic of China, BelTA has learnt.

The diplomat stressed that cooperation between Belarus and China is developing effectively in all areas. This year was marked by the celebration of the 20th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Belarus and China. The House of Friendship hosted a series of events dedicated to this anniversary. Gong Jianwei said that this days the Chinese Film Week will start in Minsk. The films reflecting the ancient and modern China will be presented.

Deputy Head of the Department for Asia and Africa of the Foreign Ministry of Belarus Leonid Botyanovsky expressed the opinion that the current cooperation between Belarus and China has reached the highest level. Political contacts and economic relations, cooperation between ministries and agencies are developing purposefully and actively. Good relationships are developing between the two nations. Representative of MFA emphasized the importance that the Chinese are preparing for the next National Congress of the Communist Party of China, on which important decisions for the further development of the country will be made.

Alina Grishkevich, deputy chairperson of the Belarus-China society, columnist for the coverage of the Presidential Affairs Department of the Republic of Belarus stressed the importance of the implementation of IT projects in Belarus and China cooperation. She said that the information portal BelTA on a regular basis publishes articles on the modern development of China and the cooperation between two countries. This year, the publishing house of the Belarusian Telegraph Agency published the collection of articles "China through the eyes of Belarusians" which was presented at the House of Friendship. This unique information project is implemented on the initiative and with the support of the China Foundation for International Studies to mark the 20th anniversary of the establishment of the Belarusian-Chinese diplomatic relations.

The book, edited by Deputy Prime Minister of Belarus, Chairman of the Belarus-China Friendship Society, ex-ambassador of Belarus to China Prof. Anatoly Tozik contains articles by 20 authors who represent a colorful palette of development of contemporary China and the bilateral Belarusian-Chinese relations. The book confirms the great interest both Belarusian people to China and the Chinese people to Belarus.

Host of the evening, Chairperson of the Presidium of the Belarusian Society for Friendship and Cultural Relations with Foreign Countries stressed the importance that the 63rd anniversary of the People’s Republic of China celebrated in the walls of the House of Friendship. All the important dates related to China are celebrated here.

The evening ended with a performance of young Chinese artists who are studying in Belarus and Belarusian ensemble "Viazanka".
