Belarusian flax growers and Chinese specialists discuss perspectives of investment and trade relations

BEIJING (BelTA) - Prospects for trade and investment cooperation with Chinese counterparts  were discussed during the visit of the delegation of Ministry of Agriculture and Food of Belarus to China, BelTA learnt from the Belarusian Embassy in Beijing.

The delegation included the heads of flax industry companies and organizations, such as «Brestoblagroservise», Flax Institute, Dubrovno and Pruzhany flax plants. They visited China at the invitation of Chinese company Kingdom.

Kingdom is a private company that specializes in growing and processing of flax. It occupies 15% of Chinese flax processing market, has two flax fiber processing plants, each with a capacity of 10 thousand tons per year, and plans to increase its capacity to 30 tons per year by 2014. The company also imports flax fiber for processing at its plants from Belgium, France, Slovakia and Lithuania.

During the visit, the two sides discussed prospects of cooperation in both trade and investment areas and set short-term plans for joint work.
