Shanghai marks 130th birthday of Kupala, Kolas

MINSK (BelTA) – The Belarus Center at East China Normal University in Shanghai played host to a soiree to mark the 130th birthday of Belarusian literature classicists Yanka Kupala and Yakub Kolas, BelTA learnt from the Foreign Ministry of Belarus.
Partaking in the event organized by the Consulate General of Belarus in Shanghai were the Vice President of East China Normal University, Director of the Belarus Center, teaching staff, Belarusian and Chinese students.
Participants of the meeting read out the poems of the Belarusian writers in Belarusian and Chinese, reviewed the results of the contest for the best translation of Yanka Kupala and Yakub Kolas works into Chinese.
A total of 120 books of Belarusian authors were donated to the Belarus Center.
Apart from this, an exhibition took part in East China Normal University to tell about the life and creativity of the Belarusian literature and history classicists.
