Draft decree ready to set up Belarusian-Chinese industrial zone

23 December 2011

MINSK (BelTA) – In the next few days a draft decree on setting up a Belarusian-Chinese industrial zone near the Belarusian town of Smolevichi will be submitted to the head of state. The declared volume of investments stands at $1 billion, First Vice Premier of Belarus Vladimir Semashko told mass media at the press conference called by President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko on 23 December.

The official said that concrete negotiations with partners were in progress.

The Belarus President stressed that after the industrial zone is created, “we will forget about problems with foreign currency. Here the most sophisticated enterprises will be set up. Enterprises of corporations from all over the world will be invited”.

It is said that China will invest $15 billion in Belarus. The arrival of China and the huge investments are a factor of security of the Belarusian state, believes Alexander Lukashenko.

“We are proud of our relations with this powerful country that, I am sure, will become the world’s top country within 15-20 years. We have very good relations, very good prospects,” said Alexander Lukashenko.
