Belarus, China ready to sign $3.3bn worth of contracts

MINSK (BelTA) – Belarus and China are ready to sign contracts worth around $3.3 billion, Prime Minister Sergei Sidorsky reported to President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko as he visited Midea-Horizont company.
The first batch of the agreements is expected to be signed during the forthcoming visit of the Belarusian leader to China on 9-11 October. The remaining agreements will be signed in the coming months. According to Sergei Sidorsky, the contracts deal with joint Belarusian-Chinese projects in energy, industry, construction, road infrastructure, construction of a runway at Minsk National Airport.
Alexander Lukashenko stressed the importance of the agreements and their timely implementation. “It is important that we move forward, not rush. Time is important for us. This is something we have been talking about for several years already,” the president said. He also demanded that every company should develop its own business plan regarding the use of Chinese investments. All in all, China will provide $15 billion worth of investments to Belarus.
“I should see the prospects of these $15 billions. Starting today Belarus-Chinese programs will be under tough control,” the president stressed.
