16 October 2009

Belarusian Potash Company (BPC) plans to sign a potash supply contract with China by the end of 2009, BPC General Director Vladimir Nikolaenko told reporters.

According to him, the negotiations with China are underway. The sides have approached the final stage of negotiations. “We hope to sign the contract in October-November,” Vladimir Nikolaenko said.

This year Belarus has not made any shipments of fertilizers to China as Chinese producers were fully stocked. The demand is expected to pick up soon. “We plan to keep the volume of export to China in 2010 at the level of 2008, around 860,000 tons,” Vladimir Nikolaenko said.
