Opportunities for Belarusian-Chinese cooperation in the sphere of science and innovation technologies are immense as Mikhail Myasnikovich, Chairman of the Presidium of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, noted at the opening of the meeting dedicated to the 15th anniversary of diplomatic links establishment and the Agreement signing between the governments of Belarus and China.

Quoting his words, unofficial openings of Chemical-Engineering Centre for Composite Materials in 2006 in Harbin (Heilongjiang province) as well as the establishment of international research laboratory on the base of Henan Academy of Sciences and Institute of the Organic Chemistry of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus serve as the cooperation achievements.

On January, 28 2007 A.Tozik, Belarus Ambassador to the PRC, met with Chinese graduates of the Belarusian Universities.

Nowadays Chinologists are in great demand in Belarus, as Viktor Gaisenok, Deputy Minister of the Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Belarus, stated at the opening ceremony of Republican Sinology Institute named after Confucius at the Belarusian State University on January, 26 2007.

“We shall train not only specialists in the field of the Chinese language and culture, but specialists acquainted with the economy of the country, professionals in science of law and other spheres. Now Belarus is actively developing trade and economic cooperation with China, and lack of such specialists is significant everywhere, both in ministries and agencies and enterprises”, V. Gaisenok noted.

On January, 22-25 2007 A.Tozik, Belarus Ambassador to China, met with heads and specialists of CITIC (Dhunsing), one of the leading China’s state corporations, Chinese National Corporation for Foreign Economic Cooperation, China Light Industrial Corporation for Foreign Economic and Technical Cooperation, “Xuan Yuan” (XY Group), Eximbank.

Belarus-China trade turnover made record $1bln in 2006 as S.Martynov, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Belarus, noted at the opening of the Belarusian-Chinese exhibition “Formula of Motion” in the National Art Museum on January, 24 2007. The exhibition is dedicated to the 15th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Belarus and China.

The Head of the Ministry stressed that Belarusian-Chinese cooperation resulted in a number of enormous achievements in all spheres. “Along with political, economic contacts strengthening the relations between the people of both the countries are being developed. Cultural links are becoming more tight, and this exhibition is a vivid example”, he marked.

On January, 19 the visit of the Belarusian mission headed by Z. Lomat, the Chairman of the Belarusian State Control Committee, to the People's Republic of China continued. The head of the mission visited Beijing power station which has the equipment that is going to be used for the reconstruction of Minsk combined heat-and-power plant №-2. Z. Lomat met with Tan Jiaxuan, a member of State Council of the People's Republic of China. During the meeting some questions of current interest about trade-economic collaboration of both the countries were discussed.

On January, 18 the Belarusian delegation headed by Z. Lomat, Chairman of the State Control Committee of the Republic of Belarus, participated in the 8th meeting of the Belarusian-Chinese Committee on Trade and Economic Cooperation. The Chinese part at the Committee’s meeting was represented by the delegation with Yui Guangzhou, Deputy Minister of Commerce of the PRC, at the head.

The 8th meeting of the Belarusian-Chinese Committee on Trade and Economic Cooperation will take place in Beijing on January, 18-19 2006. Lomat Zenon Kuzmich, Chairman of the State Control Committee of the Republic of Belarus is the Chairman of the Belarusian Part of the Committee, the Chinese part of the Committee is headed by Yui Guangzhou, Deputy Minister of Commerce of the PRC.
